Curriculum and Required Attire

Dance courses offered by the studio may be taken by female and male students, ages 2 to adult. All levels from beginner to advanced are offered. All students must attend classes in proper attire.

CSDC is not responsible for personal injury related to improper dance shoes and/or No dance shoes being worn to participate in class.

 

Twirling Tots (2 Year Olds)
A fun and playful introduction to our Pre-Dance Program for two year olds.
Attire: Pink tights, pink ballet slippers, any color leotard, hair up and away from face

Pre-Dance (3 - 4 Year Olds)
An introduction to dance through basic movement which includes music, song and creative dance.
Attire: Pink tights, pink ballet slippers, any color leotard, hair up and away from face

Pre-Ballet & Jazz (5 and/or 6 Year Olds)
A 45 minute class designed to introduce the fundamentals of ballet and jazz while helping to develop rhythm, coordination and confidence.
Attire: Pink ballet slippers, any color tights and leotard, hair up and away from face

Ballet (6 Years & +)
Ballet is the technical foundation on which all other dance forms are based. Proper body placement and alignment, as well as fundamental motions such as turns, jumps, leaps and extensions are emphasized. It develops good body structure, placement and technique; therefore it is highly recommended.
Attire: Pink tights, pink ballet slippers, any color leotard, ballet skirts, hair in a bun

Technique Intensive Ballet
This class will not involve a recital performance. It will consist of intense training in leaps, turns, jumps, flexibility and conditioning. This class will offer several benefits that will help dancers excel in their regular dance forms. Open to Ballet students by invitation.
Attire: Pink tights, pink ballet slippers, any color leotard, ballet skirts, hair in a bun

Pre-Pointe/Pointe
Dancing on the tips of the toes with a special ballet demi-pointe/pointe shoe. Prior extensive ballet training and discipline is required. Pointe work should not begin until the bones have ossified (hardened). Entry to this class is by permission only by Miss Lisa.
Attire: Pink tights, pink pointe shoes, any color leotard, ballet skirts, hair in a bun

Jazz (6 years & +)
Born in the United States, this vigorous, free-style form of dance encompasses a wide range of movements including leaps, turns and body isolations. Dancers learn rhythm, strength, speed and versatility.
Attire: Any color tights and leotard, hair away from face. Consult instructor for shoe type.

Tap (4 Years & +)
An audible dance form involving internal rhythm and a heightened awareness of musical beat.
Attire: Any color tights and leotard, hair away from face. Consult instructor for shoe type.

Hip-Hop (5 years & +)
A high beat, rhythmic form of jazz dance which focuses on the style of funk. Prior jazz dance experience required. All Hip-Hop students must currently be enrolled in either a Ballet or a Jazz class, in conjunction with their Hip-Hop enrollment.
Attire: Comfortable dancewear and/or streetwear that resembles dance attire, dance sneakers permitted

Kidnastics (3 Years - 5 Years)
A basic level of introduction to the athletic sport of tumbling. Students will be introduced to a variety of beginner level tumbling skills, including the development of flexibility, strength, and balance. Skills will be introduced through fun activities and games. Speical mats and equipment is used to help develop skills.
Attire: Barefeet, Footless tights, any color leotard, hair away from face

Tumbling (6 Years & +)
An athletic sport which helps dancers develop flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. Classes involve stretching, floor exercises, tumbling and dance. Classes offered for the beginner and intermediate tumbler.
Attire: Barefeet, Footless tights, any color leotard, hair away from face

Cheer Dance Teams (4 Years & +)
A popular and upcoming form of dance that incorporates cheerleading techniques. Classes involve a combination of dancing, cheering, stunting and mounting, jumping and tumbling.
Attire: Cheer Dance students should not wear tights, but can wear a leotard if desired. Cotton shorts or pants are suggested with a tank top. Students must pull hair up and away from face. NO metal clips or jewelry are to be worn to class. Sneakers must be worn to each class, as your child will be jumping and stunting at each sesion. Cheer Dance students are required to have clean, "DRY" plain white sneakers (no specific brand req'd). Cheer dance sneakers should be treated as other dance shoes and should only be worn for class. Please do not allow children to wear Cheer Dance sneakers outdoors or they will NOT be allowed to wear them inside the studio.
